Magic, Unfinished

Magic May – The Spell Book of Listen Taylor

The Spell Book of Listen Taylor –  Jaclyn Moriarty

With a title like this and a place in the young adult section of my local library, this book should surely fit Magic May.  Unfortunately NOT!  Why?  Because I didn’t finish it (I made it to page 173).  Why else?  Because it seems to be more for adults and the magic/fantasy elements are so infrequent that I forgot that is why I chose it!  There are some interesting characters and I empathised with the plight of Listen Taylor when she was dumped by her friends in Year 7 but there was too much for me to follow and too much adult randomness.  Maybe I am superficial and missed something?   However, on reading other views of the book on Goodreads many seem to be equally mixed.  So I have a new category  – “unfinished”.
